Finding The Rare & Unusual, The Dumortierite Ring
I love it when I come across a gemstone that I haven't seen or heard of before, and this rare dumortierite fits the bill. Exceptional because the stone itself is an atypical find, especially in this quality, plus it is in "jewelry-size"! Searching through the hundreds of booths at Tucson gem show, somehow my eyes bee-lined to a tiny box amongst hundreds in one particular room. Containing this superior piece of dumortierite, you can see tiny blue crystals rising up through the clear crystal quartz, creating a three-dimensional cityscape world. I just had to have it! To show off the dumortierite, I surrounded it in 18k yellow gold set with diamonds, with highlights of stellar blue sapphires and adularescent rainbow moonstones. Fit for a queen of any galaxy!
